Our Building develoment begins

At long last our long awaited building develpments are underway.  We are all really excited by the work that is being undertaken at school.  The first phase of the work is the Junior corridor and the classrooms currently occupied by Year 3 and Year 4.

The whole work is expected to finish at the end of Summer 2013. Alongside the building work we are also developing the way we use technology within the school.  Our vision for Flakefleet School is to create an environment that will further excite and inspire  our children to achieve even greater things.

The classrooms are prepared.                                     The safety fencing is put in place

Happy Easter to you all

Recent national report from Ofsted

Ofsted has identified the Good/Outstanding best-performing schools in 'challenging' areas

Ofsted recently issued a report detailing the best-performing schools in 'challenging' areas. There were only 17 schools in the whole of Lancashire identified and we are really pleased to say that Flakefleet was identified as one of these schools.

In the report, Ofsted identified "high levels of expectation" for pupils - regardless of what they have achieved in the past - is a critical factor in a successful school serving a poor community. Such schools are determined to deliver good teaching for every child.

Out of the 700 schools in the country who were identified as gaining a Good or Outstanding judgement, Flakefleet were the number 1 school in the whole country who made the improvement over the shortest time.

Flakefleet Primary School is a GOOD school -who says so?  -OFSTED and more importantly - our parents.

Following on from our inspection at the end of last term the inspection report is available on our school website.  We were really pleased with the outcomes of the inspection and the inspectors were very complimentary. Comments such as

- Pupils' behaviour throughout the school is good both indoors and out; they have positive attitudes and enjoy learning

- By the time pupils leave school they are active learners and confident young citizens, keen to play their part in the community.

- Pupils say they enjoy lessons because teachers make them fun.

- Enjoyment and good progress in lessons was frequently seen during the inspection.

- The school's curriculum has many strengths. The use of ICT is particularly strong, with a wide range of good quality resources that are used imaginatively.

- Pupils' progress is good because teaching is good and sometimes it is outstanding.

- Team work is strong; it is the dedicated work of all the whole school staff that is an important factor in the school's good capacity to improve.
